Doushitemo furetakunai by Yoneda Kou is a completely different kind of manga from Otona Keikenchi but just as shiny. This one's angsty and tense. Shima falls for his new boss Togawa, but can't express his feelings because of a past trauma. Togawa is outwardly very tactless and forward, but is in fact very considerate. Though he also has a traumatic past, he's able to express his feelings for Shima straightforwardly. Can Shima overcome his trauma and let himself love?

Like I said, angsty (and conventional). Sometimes I want to smack the characters for being stupid and messing up their chances for happiness in this kind of story, but in this case I can totally forgive Shima because the situation is so deja vu for him. He's mostly repressed rather than emo, which is a state I prefer for my angsty characters. It also helps that Togawa is almost always outwardly light-hearted. XD

Shima's first day of work. He's stuck in an elevator with a guy who reeks of alcohol, which kills him because he can't stand alcohol. Turns out that the guy is his new boss Togawa:

Shima can't hide how he's so conscious of Togawa. Of course, Togawa can't help but notice it:

Togawa drags the anti-social Shima out to dinner, for which he apologizes afterwards. He then kisses Shima because "that's the way the mood was flowing." Shima protests, embarrassed that Togawa had kissed him on the street. Togawa conveniently interprets the protest as Shima protesting the public kiss and takes him to somewhere private for more...

Lovely chapter cover page:

At one point Shima pushes Togawa away, but an inconsequential thing reminds him of Togawa's kindness and his feelings and he breaks down:

Iin the end love wins out. When Togawa asks Shima, "Do you love me?" Shima responds honestly that he does:

Awwww....Notice that it's snowing? Why is a scene like this in snow that much more romantic?

Last but not least, the simple happiness of just being with the person you love:

Looks like it hasn't been picked up by a scanlation group? Hope it does get picked up...

I really enjoyed this one! I was surprised that it hadn't been picked up by any groups. Hopefully they will get to it soon.

I noticed on Amazon that this had like 30 reviews (which I think is the most reviews I've ever seen on a BL manga) and now I'm kind of annoyed because I thought I ordered it, but it turns out I didn't. I'm trying not to look at the spoilery stuff you wrote too much, but did you like it overall?

PS

I finally got my hands on this and you were totally right--it's so good! Togawa is so freaking adorable! And Shima is even more adorable! *flails* And I LOVE the hilarious omake about Onoda. Hee! He should get his own story. Why doesn't this author have more manga? But I agree with the reviewer that this is pretty impressive as a debut.

Re: PS

I'm glad you like it! I hope this artist produces good stuff like this. The only other thing I've read by her is an ongoing one that I can only find in English and Chinese that I really want to read more of.

That omake really is hilarious. Love Togawa's persistent jealousy and poor poor Ogawa's plight...

Re: PS

What's the name of the ongoing one? (So I can keep my eye out for it.)

I love how Onoda fights back, too. ("Shima-kun, Togawa-san wants to know what color underpants you have on!") And then poor Togawa at the end, trying to wrangle a transfer out of buchou... XD

Re: PS

It's called Ore ni koishite dousunda. One chapter's been scanlated, I've seen the second chapter in Chinese. I think there are three chapters out so far. :P

Oh yes, the transfer request was hilarious! Togawa is so cute when he's jealous!
