|i love reading hilarious reviews

Read a really good review of one of the most popular romance novels ever (or something like that), Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase. It was a refreshing change of pace as I had earlier read some gushing, gag-inducing reviews by people who'd loved it to itty-bitty pieces. I had to wonder if I wrote like that when I loved something. It's somehow off-puting...In any case, this review is HILARIOUS. Her plot synopsis is a thing of beauty.
I totally understand the detractors who disliked what a jackass the hero is (and won't excuse him because of his pitiful past), but I also understand the people who adored the story because the heroine is a true feisty, intelligent woman who could stand up to the jackass. But apparently what really makes the novel is the author's writing ability. I can totally relate to that, too! XD; I don't think I'd ever actually read this or other het English romance novels, but now I feel like reading reviews of them, especially by this particular reviewer.
Speaking of hilarious reviews, zehavit_lamasu summaries the BL novel Immoral Darkness. I kind of want to read this novel for myself now because it really does sound bad. I...just don't want to pay full price for it. Hopefully I'll remember it when I go to Japan again so that I can pick it up used.
