The Graveyard Book [Jan. 6th, 2009|06:03 am]
[Current Mood |happyhappy]

What I thought after finishing The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman: More Silas + Bod, please! Though I usually don't care for the series of short story format, I was fine in this book. I think the idea of a living kid being brought up by ghosts (and other non-humans) in a graveyard was too appealing for me to hate on the format much. I wish there was a bit more exploration of the interaction between the dead and the living and a bit more something on the villains (talk about paper-thin and 2D) as well. But I still enjoyed it much, mostly thanks to Silas and Bod and their odd relationship. I love strange guardian relationships where there is deep attachment and affection but almost no outward manifestation of the underlying emotions. XD

I need to seek out and read more children's books. It's been too long since I've read a good one!
