Read Totally Captivated volume 6 chapter 6...I don't understand where this story is going. I miss Ewon being more...Ewon? He seems like a shoujo manga heroine or something right now. :P Also, I don't think it's ending in this volume at this pace.

I recently read the first six chapter of U Don't Know Me by Na Yeri, a very enjoyable BL manhwa with pretty art and lots of sex. Childhood friends who love each other and end up falling into each other's arms (and having lots of sex). I am very amused by delicate flower uke who is actually violent and strong-willed. The seme's dad getting all protective of the uke at the end of chapter 6 was hilarious! I will buy this when it is published, I hope it ends well.

In Defense of Buying Books, a post on a personal finance blog that provides counter-arguments to the age-old frugal advice of don't buy books, borrow them. I love reading discussion of this subject as it is dear to my heart, and there were some good comments on the post. If I were the type to post, I'd comment that my local library carries many of the books I read since I read a lot in another language. Of course I could always borrow the social science books I seem to have become addicted to lately, but I've learned from years and years of experience that I will always end up paying gobs of fines because I don't return things on time. XD;

You're So Damn Hot by Melina is a great vid featuring lots of Captain Jack eye candy. Found it via a Torchwood vid rec request post here.

Eh, if you generally don't reread books, and your RL friends and family don't have similar tastes, though, and you don't like to write in them (due to early childhood conditioning: when you can't even write in your textbooks, you won't want to write in your fiction books), there isn't as much benefit, however. It seems that this has everything to do with the person's individual reading style.

Generally, the books I buy are cheap used books at used bookstore, or reference materials, or new books of a series I'm following. (actually, there's only one which falls into this category, Saiunkoku) Otherwise, I go to the library.

Yeah, it really depends on the person. I know many people don't reread so it makes sense that they borrow from the library or whatever, it's just kind of nice seeing the buying of books defended sometimes.

I worked in a library for 13 years and LOVED it but oddly I HATED borrowing books. Forget the fact that I am actually one of those people who inure massive fines for forgetting to return books... at least I would have been but library hands where allowed to wave their own fines ... still as a library assistant I always felt guilty about it ^^;;.

I kept reading this article thinking how much it doesn't apply to me because the acquisition of books has nothing to do with finance for me. I buy books because I like owning them... even the ones I really hate (I still have James Joice and Dan Brown on my shelves >_<)even the ones I don't intend to read ... A psychologist could probably have a field day on this compulsion but since it doesn't interfere with my life and never did (I always prioritize so I can feed this obsession to a large degree).

One just doesn't feel one OWNS a library book and as a staunch and unapologetic consumerist - that bothers me XD.

*laughs* I worked at a library during school and often returned things late. Luckily the library had a grace period so I didn't pay much (I just couldn't backdate the books when I went over the grace period and cheat the library).

In the end it is a matter of priority. For many people it doesn't make sense for them to buy lots of books so they can cut out that expense and put that money somewhere else. For insane bookworms it doesn't work that way. XD;

I agree with you on TC. It's seems to be going downhill for me. I used to be so excited when the a new chapter would come out but now, it's more of an after thought.

That U Don't Know Me manwha sounds pretty good, i'll check it out!

OMG, I was just introduced to Torchwood last week . . . I love it! I ask myself why I didn't watch it before! I'm happily awaiting the new mini-series! Def checking out that vid.

I want to know how TC will end (as I assume it won't go on for *that* much longer)...I'm hoping it DOES end soon, sadly. :P

Hope you like U Don't Know Me! The six chapters I read were very enjoyable!

I probably will never watch Torchwood, but I do enjoy seeing eye-candy vids. Maybe I'll even check out the fanfic, though it doesn't seem like my favorite authors wrote for it.
