|to buy or not to buy?

I got a recommendation email from Amazon Japan for Haru no doro by Mizuhara Tohru and checked out the book. The blurb looked promising. An older brother who has an inferiority complex towards his talented younger brother is about to move out of the house. One week when his parents are out he's knocked out by the younger brother and wakes up tied and in the process of being fucked. I think it's a story of an obsessive and/or devoted younger brother and the older brother who weakens in the face of that obsession and comes to accept the forbidden relationship (it is sad that I can say I've read several stories with the same basic premise). I love incest, I love obsession, I don't always love how pathetic the resistance of the object of the obsession (invariably the uke) tends to be. But in any case, I was interested in the book until I read the very tepid reviews. They just didn't find the story very compelling. I did an internet search and found more reviews that mentioned how they just didn't get into the story. One couldn't connect with either of the characters, another just found the relationship lacked enough tension. But I have a feeling that the reviewers were also coming at this after having read the author's other books. The author likes her violence and screwed-up-ness (which unfortunately don't always work for me), and maybe they were measuring her up against her other books? I'm still debating on whether to bother spending the money to buy it...
And then I checked my own tag on the author and realized she writes crap. XD;
