another book I should probably not read... [Oct. 20th, 2009|07:57 pm]

Kuchibiru ni chou no hone by Sakiya Haruhi was another recommendation by Amazon Japan which made me snort. I love love love the reviews. Basically the story is kind of stupid, the seme is seriously messed up, and the ending is...questionable. But it has lots and lots of sex! Thus they gave many stars. Basically it's about an uke who has been at the seme's mercy for about 12 years, he's tried to run away many times but is brought back and fucked hard each time. The uke doesn't think the seme loves him, but apparently the seme does love him in his own "special" way. Which wasn't that apparent to the readers, but who cares? Lots of sex! The best line was in the second review. After explaining that when the uke is transferred elsewhere by his company he tries to use that as an excuse to *really* get away but is just locked up and fucked hard by the seme, the reader writes "I thought the description of the sex here was splendid."

...Okay, it sounds better in Japanese. But still! I doubt I'd like this book, but I kind of want to read it just to find out how "splendid" it is. And how WTF? the seme's motivations are. XD;

i don't think i would accept seme's reasons whatever it is (/they are?) but... makes me kinda curious too, to see if it will be convincing enough O_o;; (and again!! uke endures! whyyy? T__T but meh. at least he "tried and tried" to run away and many, many times. i'll give him credit for that.)

nope. not interested in the sex. really!! *nose grooows*

It's hard to say whether I'd find any of the story credible if I ever read it. I have a feeling I'll hate it, and yet I'm curious. They do say curiosity killed the cat...Will I be struck dead by the stupid? :P

Thanks to you I've started actually reading the Amazon reviews for random BL manga I'm interested in, and oh gosh, your sentence above pretty much sums up most of the reviewing patterns. LOL.

Just finished reading one for a manga I liked and am thinking of getting since I liked the drama cd, and it was pretty amusing that the only review for it on Amazon was pretty much "I bought this since the mangaka's books always have loads of smut but since there was hardly any in this book I'm giving it 3 stars." And hardly any mention of the story itself whatsoever! *laughs*

It's helpful to learn that the only good/bad thing about the book is the amount of sex in it, I suppose. :P
