I'd heard some commentary on Katie Rophie's article The Naked and the Conflicted in The NYT Sunday Book Review before but hadn't bothered reading the original article until I came across a hilarious Sexist Beatdown at Tiger Beatdown. The "immortal words of Shakespeare" bit alone is worth reading the whole thing for. In any case, I found the original article to be totally boring. Of course, I've never read The Great Male Novelists who wrote graphic sex such as Roth and Updike and don't plan on doing it any time soon (the quoted bits grossed me out, actually). The other commentary I've come across have been more snarky and fun to read...maybe because they just don't take themselves so seriously.
